My Visualization Board
This is less of a blog post as it is just a reference for myself to look at when I need to. But I’ll give some explanation. Visualization is a technique used by many successful CEOs and celebrities to visualize themselves having the success they desire. That visualization actually helps motivate them to succeed. Jim Carrey famously did this when he wrote out a check for himself for the sum of 10 million, and dated it for 1995. Then he would use that to visualize his success for the future. It was in 1994 that he was paid 10 million dollars for Dumb and Dumber.
This is my visualization board as it currently stands. This is obviously subject to change in the future. These are images that give the impression of the type of person I want to be and the type of success I want to have in the future. They are also based on some of my affirmations that I recite in the morning.
I want to entertain, education, and inspire millions.
This image conveys the type of life I want to live. I love public speaking, and I want to be inspiring to others, whether that’s talking to them about motivation, entrepreneurship, or weight loss, I want to be out there, with the people, sharing what I can with them.
I will write 3,500 words for books each day.
I currently write about half of this, but that’s because I can only devote an hour per day to writing. I eventually plan to allocate at least two hours. This image just represents me as an author, busy and committed to writing each day. Currently, I write alone, but I wouldn’t mind doing it in a cafe somewhere. I really like that cliche.
I will have a home with personality.
I’ve never wanted a super large or expensive house. But I do want a house with personality, and I particularly like houses built in the 70s. These images represent the type of house I’m looking for, plus the two unique features I definitely do want to splurge on: A nice theater room, and a book shelf that is actually a secret door (possibly to the theater room).
I will spend time with my family, because they make my work worth it.
This image kind of embodies the family I want to have. Obviously the faces will be different, but I love the family dynamic in this photo.
I will exercise and make healthy food choices every day.
Chris Pratt is a huge inspiration. And I identify with his personality a little bit. But mostly, these images are to inspire me to look like that! I also want to be able to run a 10k, so I’ve included a running image too.
I will travel somewhere new each year.
This image is just to inspire me to visit new places. I want to visit someplace new each year (though it doesn’t have to be as far away as Rome. I hear Maine is nice).
And that’s the gist of it. I have more affirmations than are represented here by these images, but these represent the general idea of who I would like to be, and the level of success I want. It sounds cheezy, but it has worked for many people, and therefore will work for me.
